Stephiea Rath, 17:58) "Sure, that'd be great. I'll meet you in the primary shuttlebay at 19:00 then?" Belden asked with a grin. "Why would be meet in the shuttlebay?" Rath asked, a puzzled look on her face. A second later she made the connection and laughed as she leaned in closer to Belden. "Fighters are not kept in the shuttlebay silly. They are kept in the fighter bays, deck 41. It is a restricted area so if the security guards give you any grief just have them call me and I'll come and get you. Alright?" "Great. I can't wait!" Belden replied. "See you then," Steph said, as she turned and headed out of 10 Forward. Capps asked as the server left to get their orders. "The usual," Eva said with a slight shrug of her shoulders. "Reports, requisition , more reports, and more requisitions. There is a lot of logistical work involved in keeping a ship like the Paladin running. Add to that all the logistics for supplying a battle group, especially one containing Klingon ships, and it's quite a work load. What about you?" "It was rough, but it doesn't really make good dinner talk,"Capps replied. "Oh?" Eva replied with a slightly raised eye brow. "And what would you like to talk about?" Eva replied with a slightly raised eye brow. "And what would you like to talk about?" Calvin copied the Captain from earlier and picked up his glass of water. Took a sip of it as he gathered his thoughts. "May I be candid sir?" (reply Straton) NRPG: Assuming yes, if not I will repost. RPG: Calvin spoke in a calm and rational voice. He spoke low so no one else could hear him. "One of the reasons I wanted to have dinner was to know you better. We have been on 3 large scale missions together, and I don't think we have had a conversation that didn't involve work since I came aboard." Calvin felt her stare, and knew that she would not be using her strong telepathic ability but he knew that she sensed something. He continued. "If you wish to stay anonymous, I will respect your decision. I would like to be your friend as well as your First Officer," he summed it up. "Of course," Eva said with a shrug. "One of the reasons I wanted to have dinner was to know you better. We have been on 3 large scale missions together, and I don't think we have had a conversation that didn't involve work since I came aboard." He paused briefly looking at her. She simply returned the look impassively waiting for him to finish. "If you wish to stay anonymous, I will respect your decision. I would like to be your friend as well as your First Officer," He finished. "We're at war Commander," She said after a short pause, her voice calm and composed. "Doesn't it bother you that either one of us, if not both of us, could be dead tomorrow? Is it really worth the effort to get to know someone, maybe even begin to care for them, only to lose them tomorrow?" She took another sip of her drink as she regarded the Commander, interested in what his answer would be. "Doesn't it bother you that either one of us, if not both of us, could be dead tomorrow? Is it really worth the effort to get to know someone, maybe even begin to care for them, only to lose them tomorrow?" The Captain took the Cmdrs breath away. He was stunned for a second. Eva had hit the very subject why Elizabeth and him were fighting right before Calvin came to dinner. "Yes," he said then went quiet again. "Yes, it is worth it. I lost my parents due to this war. They decided that they did not want to have anything to do with the fighting. They decided to stay behind the enemy lines. I haven't spoken with my parents since the day I signed up with the 52nd fleet. And if I tried I am worried that my parents may be caught talking with some one in the 52nd by Doenitz forces. My parents may be killed for some idiotic treason policy." Calvin didn't stop. He wasn't yelling by any means to the Captain, but he wasn't really talking in a calm voice either. There was obviously some sort of tension going on. "I also think that I just lost the 1 person that I cared the most about since I joined the 52nd." At this point he calmed down a considerable amount. He realized what he was doing. "Even though it may hurt I would rather stand beside a friend in war time and not just another officer." Calvin stopped talking. He closed his eyes. He opened them. The realization of the conversation hit him more than ever now. Even though he asked to be candid he even believed that he took it to far. But right now that did not matter. What mattered was what the person sitting in front of him thought. His commanding officer.
